New title for Obama, Comedian in Chief

November 9, 2010

I have been off and on reading Saul Alinsky’s Rules for Radicals over the last month, and let me tell you, calling it a tough read would be the understatement of the year.  Must be another liberal “messaging problem”.  Anyway, a certain portion in this tome speaks about the qualities that make a good community organizer, inter-mixed with anecdotal stories about how great Saul was at organizing – you get the feeling this book was for one radical named Saul, and not all radicals as the title professes.

Here is Alinsky’s description of the quality of a sense of humor:

Back to Webster’s Unabridged: humor is defined as “The mental faculty of discovering, expressing, or appreciating ludicrous or absurdly incongruous elements in ideas, situations, happenings, or acts…”

Knowing that contradictions are the signposts of progress he [the organizer] is ever on the alert for contradictions

From an outward glance at our Organizer in Chief President Obama, he does not slap you upside the noggin as a comedic genius, in fact only John Kerry seems more able to make a baby cry.  But what if we look at Barry through the description Saul just gave us?

“Appreciating ludicrously incongruous elements in ideas” like…ohh, I don’t know, passing an 800 billion dollar stimulus package, a trillion-dollar health care plan, multiple billion dollar bailouts, and then complaining that a 700 billion tax cut (also known as a tax increase in the real world) will destroy the country.

Or, that our soldiers and military are “air-raiding villages and killing civilians.”  Meanwhile, he is on a ten-day, 40 aircraft, 34 naval ship, 3000 person trip around India.  I wonder if he reminded any of the people protecting him that he made that statement?  I also wonder how many of those military folks secretly snicker at the genius’ inability to say the word corpsmen properly.

Or, “Transparency and the rule of law will be the touchstones of this presidency.”  Wow, where to go on this one?  How many lobbyists has he hired?  How many closed-door secret meetings so he can man-handle his evil greedy corporate buddies?  And the rule of law, let’s see, the DOJ won’t prosecute the New Black Panthers for voter intimidation.  And the DOJ has stated it won’t even touch any complaint regarding motor-voter laws.

Or, “I will finally end the abuse of no-bid contracts once and for all.”  I guess we need to define abuse, since the administration awarded a no-bid contract to the firm of Checchi and Company Consulting, owned by democrat donor Vincent Checchi, for $24 million to train judges in Afghanistan.  Or the no-bid contract to Halliburton subsidiary KBR for $568 million, just a week after the DOJ joined a suit filed against KBR.  Here is what Obama said months prior to this, “The days of sweetheart deals for Halliburton will be over when I’m in the White House.

Hey, I ain’t saying Obama is a hypocrite, he just has an enormous sense of humor.  Are you laughing America?

I don’t think I would call him a comedian, but he certainly is a joke.

He’s a comedian by way of tragedian I would argue.
