Grandma prays for Obama to embrace Islam

Grandma prays for Obama to embrace Islam – Arab News.

File this under, “Bet you didn’t here this from the MSM.”

President Obama’s grandmother, Haja Sarah Omar, and his uncle, Saeed Hussein Obama, were invited by the King of Saudi Arabia to go on Haj pilgrimage all the way from Kenya.  While visiting, his grandmother made this interesting comment:

I prayed for my grandson Barack to convert to Islam

What an interesting comment.  Lets look at what this one sentence actually means.

First, it reaffirms Barack’s non-muslim status and denounces all the hoopla that states otherwise.  But it also shows that his relatives in Africa are.  So from a pro-Islam standpoint, it could be conceived that Barack is denying his heritage.  Or that like most wayward children, they often stray from their elder’s upbringing, but eventually see the light and come around.

But the fact his grandmother was there speaks even more to this.  Would the King Abdullah have invited to poor people from Kenya to be guests of his kingdom if they were not related to an American president?  The Haj is a very closed process nowadays, you can’t just travel to Saudi Arabia and participate, you need tickets and passes and all sorts of government documentation to be allowed to visit the holy sites, so this was more than just a kind king saying, “Hey, why don’t you come on over.”  In fact, one of the princes hosted the pair to dinner.

Prince Mamdouh hosted a dinner in honor of the Haja, her sons and grandchildren at his palace in Jeddah on Wednesday.

Why so much outreach to people one could argue the President himself has shown much less interest in?  The naive out there will say he was just being nice.  It would be nice if it was so simple.  I think this was a concerted effort to show more links between President Obama and Islam, both for the King’s subjects in Saudi Arabia as well as for a more global-political reason.

How does the Islamic world view America if they think there is at most a closet Muslim in power, and at the least, a relative of many Muslims?  I think this emboldens all Muslims who seek to see “the flag of Sharia flying over the White House” that their plans are working.

Lets’ hope Barry ignores his Grandma on her suggestion.

I don’t think there is any chance that Obama’s relatives would have been invited if it weren’t for Barack Obama. They saw this as a chance to show the ties between Obama and Muslims, as you said, and one has to wonder why they felt this was advantageous.

Advantageous to Islam, not to America. I think it makes people who dream of “cracking” America for Islam that there plans are starting to work. So if people were getting tired of the jihad, or struggle, that they can see we are in fact cracking because we have practically elected a Muslim to the white house.

I think that Obama’s Muslim relatives shows that we are a pluralistic society. People from around the world have come here over the years, and we’ve forged a wealthy and successful nation. Many immigrants have won Noble prizes for themselves and benefited this country in the process. Almost all American’s I think welcome those from other lands who come here to work hard, make a better life for their kids and live in peace, and I think the vast majority of Muslims who come here do so to live and work in peace. The first report of the suspicious vehicle left by the Time’s square bomber was made by a Muslim.

That the President has ties to Africa is just an indication of this pluralism and willingness to have peaceful relation with people of all nations. I acknowledge that there is dangerous sect of Muslims that don’t accept a pluralistic society. We need to defend ourselves effectively against this dangerous minority, but work to have good relations with peaceful Muslims and isolate Islamofascists. Connections between our nation including it leadership and the Muslim world ultimately help us to win the War on Terror, and avoid it turning it into a war on Muslims.

If instead we are or will soon be in an endless religious war with from 1 or 2 billion Muslims, then the future is bleak, indeed.

I was not trying to come off the way I probably ended up coming off in the post.

My intention was mostly to point out why a newsworthy story was not reported on in the US, and the reasoning behind it.

The Koran would say Obama should be struck down because he rejected his religion and Allah. He is considered to be an Apostate. I found it odd that Obama recently said he reads the Bible every night and prays for our nation. I guess this was sort of in response to your story.

Hmm, it also says he (muslims, not sure about Barry) can deny his faith if he is fearful of the infidels, so who knows?

On profiling I’m not opposed to it across the board, just wary of going to far. I don’t want to bring back internment like for the Japanese in WW II.

    An interesting addition was this:

I think it is making rounds on some conservative blogs today.

Were it not for the heightened tensions, the religion of any person, even the President, should have been, amongst enlightened folks, a non-issue.

Would a Christian even be allowed to run for king…oh I forgot, you don’t get elected king of Saudi Arabia. As far as I am concerned, you live in the most backward, “regressive” system of government out there, so fix your own damn house before you comment on mine.
