Fleece’s Faves – MICLIC Edition

December 19, 2010

Okay, I know what you are saying, MICLIC, how boring!?!  Haha, just kidding.  I doubt most of you have even heard of this before.  MICLIC (pronounced mick-lick) stands for MIne Clearing LIne Charge and its proper military model number is the M58.  But what the hell is it?

Basically it is a trailer with a rocket attached to it.  Attached to the rocket is a 350 foot line of explosives, equivalent to 5 pounds of C-4 per linear foot.  The idea is this:  You come up on a mine-field.  Get the engineers on the horn and have them pull this baby up, shoot the sucker across the field, let ‘er rip, and presto, you have a 25 foot wide and 330 foot long lane.  Pretty cool huh?

Now, this is not the normal way the engineers clear fields, this is for quick breaching during an offensive operation.  I have seen these in the field, but never observed one deployed.  One of a long list of toys our military has I wish I could have used.

On to the links.

Planet Moron – he gets top of the list this week, every post he made this week was incredibly informative and side-splittingly funny, this one is about the Washington Post’s series of articles about guns

American and Proud – Robert gives us his take on the Florida Schoolboard shooting

America’s Watchtower – Steve talks about the FCC’s attempts at Net Neutrality

Be Sure You’re Right, then Go Ahead – Bob details what would constitute the “perfect” president – vote for Candidate Nobody

Blog de KingShamus – KS does his normally awesome job of speaking to the gutless wonders we have in Congress – this time, the Dream Act

Bread Upon the Waters – Quite Rightly has a must-read piece about a Montreal shoe store owner’s woes, hint, he dares to sell shoes made in Israel!!!

Bunkerville – Brings up an important issue few are covering – how quiet Hybrid cars are and the government’s path to fixing it

Capitol Commentary – Harrison has an excellent list of home defense weapons you should ask for for Christmas

Conservative Hideout 2.0 – Matt talks about “No Labels” and how they live by their title, they even hate copyright labels

Conservatives on Fire – talks about how to “motivate” corporate America to come back home

Disrupt the Narrative – has an interesting post on the court-ruling on Obamacare, good read

Mind Numbed Robot – great little joke about Texans and our love for guns

MotorCity Times – Steve has been on a roll this week, you should spend a couple hours over at his blog, many excellent posts – this one is about the Democrats losing support of religious voters

NoOneofAnyImport – talks about her third-grader’s textbook, and the “authors” who wrote it

Political Realities – Larry talks about earmarks and why he thinks they are not all bad

Reporter 37 – gives us his take on the Florida Schoolboard shooting, good stuff, he actually knows some of the people involved

Spellchek – 5etester gives us an interesting theory on why we are in Afghanistan until 2014 – I can’t really disagree with his conclusion

The Swash – has a horrible vid of a pregnant teen getting beaten on a bus in Seattle – damn Northwest libs are taking abortion to the extreme

The Daley Gator – if you don’t listen to Doug’s podcasts, you are missing out, this one is about the tolerant left and their intolerance for certain Christmas parade floats

Would that Mic-Lic work on government bureaucracy too? Just wondering. Thanks for the link.

    Cheers!

    • December 19, 2010 7:02 pm

LOL, probably not, the bureaucracy is way too big for the MICLIC.

I bet that M58 makes a pile of noise when it goes off. Best be wearing ear plugs when it does. Thanks for the link, Colin. It is greatly appreciated.

Good point. If you wear earplugs in combat, you might get killed – you need all your senses. But if you don’t, you go deaf. One of the many catch-22’s of military service.

      It was my pleasure.

    Thanks!

    Muchas gracias, Senor.

Glad you liked my DREAM post. The rats I though we had unelected keep trying to screw up America.

Amazing, when you think about it.

Thanks again…love the military stuff..who would have figured!

    • December 19, 2010 7:04 pm

Military stuff is cool. Its a shame humans are the most ingenious when it comes to devising ways to kill each other, but hell, since we are, might as well enjoy the creations.

  7. December 19, 2010 7:05 pm

Thanks much for the link. Man, what a great way to clear roads plugged with snow and ice, just vaporize it.

    • December 19, 2010 7:06 pm

Hmm, interesting idea. Not to mention fun as hell! If we did that, I would have to move farther North than Virginia, lol.

My pleasure, your ideas about Afghanistan were truly intriguing.

  8. December 19, 2010 7:15 pm

Thanks for the featured position! The only thing you’ve left for me to whine about is the fact that these favorite listings of yours keep adding to my already overburdened required reading list.

Oh, and I really enjoy the military weapon installments. There is no question the federal government excels at exploding things, whether it’s mine fields or budget deficits.

    • December 19, 2010 7:25 pm

      It was my pleasure.

Yeah, we need a MICLIC for the budget. Good idea.

  9. December 19, 2010 8:22 pm

A MICLIC for the budget? Do they make one powerful enough for that?
    Thanks for the link!

    • December 19, 2010 9:58 pm

Nah, the budget is way too big for the MICLIC, but a nuke might do the trick.

      It was my pleasure. =)

Is it snowing in the photo?? Thanks for the link.

They are a lot of work, but its my way of saying thanks to all the people kind enough to think my writing is worth recommending. Plus, I actually do like the posts I link, lol. And guns are fun. So it is my pleasure.

  12. December 20, 2010 1:11 pm

Yay! I’m not getting thrown into the spam box! I’ve had such trouble with that lately.

    • December 20, 2010 2:57 pm

So you spam me to tell me, lol. Just kidding.

  13. December 20, 2010 6:49 pm

    Merry Christmas!
