Who the hell is Tarik ibn Zayid?

March 25, 2011

Next month marks the 1300 year anniversary Tarik ibn Ziyad crossed the straits of Gibraltar and heralded the reign of Islam over Spain for the next 700 years.  Why is any of this crap important?  Because you might not know of a little charter school in Minnesota that bears his name.

But let’s not get diverted by the misleading term “charter” to describe this elementary school – it is funded by Minnesota taxpayers (and since it gets Federal dollars, you and me as well) to the tune of $4 million a year.  In an amazing turn of events, I find the ACLU and myself on the same page in regards to this “public school” – they have filed a lawsuit against the school claiming it violates the establishment clause of the First Amendment – I usually balk when people whine about the “separation” of church and state, but let us investigate how this school differs quite a bit from, oh I don’t know, the mere mention of the word God in the pledge of allegiance.

In Andrew C. McCarthy’s excellent book, The Grand Jihad: How Islam and the Left Sabotage America, Mr. McCarthy lays out some of the specifics in the ACLU’s case:

Minnesotan law requires its public schools to be nonsectarian.  Visitors to TIZA [the nickname for the Academy] however, found themselves greeted by a Muslim prayer posted in the entryway.  The school sports a centrally carpeted prayer room, and the ACLU alleges both that MAS-MN has conducted prayer sessions there during school hours, and that – after teachers encouraged students to partake in Islam’s pre-prayer ablution ritual – the school breaks for a half-hour of prayer services on Fridays (time that is not made up).  Moreover, the MAS-MN runs a Muslim studies program an hour ummediately after school has officially concluded for the day.  In effect, this makes Muslim studies part of the regular curriculum: Although school officially ends at 3:30pm, buses don’t depart from TIZA until 4:30.  Further, the school requires girls (but not boys) to cover their bare arms, and the uniform for older girls (as well as the dress code for female teachers) calls for them to be covered from the neck to the wrist and ankle, with virtually all wearing headscarves.  Students refer to their teachers as “Brother” or “Sister.”  The cafetaria serves halal food only(kind of like Kosher for Muslims[note, I really enjoy dropping Jewish terms on Islam, hehe]), and students fast from dawn until dusk during Ramadan.

I gleefully will partake in the time-honored conservative past-time of “If this was a…” and allow you to finish the sentence.  For more information on this school from the reporter Katherine Kirsten of the Star Tribune, checkout her article Teacher questions Muslim practices at charter school.

You might have noticed a reference in the above blockquote that I chose not to elaborate on, the acronym MAS-MN.  It stands for the Muslim American Society of Minnesota, an affiliate to the nationwide Muslim American Society, which was founded as the United States chapter of…wait for it…the Muslim Brotherhood.  You know, the good ole Brotherhood of Muslims that our president basically has a steamy teenage infatuation with.  Oh, you didn’t know?  Hmm, let’s list some of his dalliances with the Bros from the excellent article Obama’s Muslim Brotherhood Ties over at Human Events:

  1. The prayer given at his inauguration was delivered by the president of a Brotherhood offshoot, the Islamic Society of North America (an unindicted co-conspirator in a Hamas terror funding case via the Home Land Foundation)
  2. He personally invited 10 members of the Brotherhood to hear his America-reviling Cairo speech, much to the chagrin of the Egyptian government considering the Brotherhood is responsible for the assassination of Anwar Sadat
  3. Not done with the Islamic Society of North America following his inauguration, he sent his senior adviser, Valerie Jarrett, to their 2009 national convention
  4. In April 2009, he appointed Arif Alikhan as assistant secretary for policy development at DHS – two weeks prior to this appointment, Alikhan participated in a fundraiser for the Muslim Public Affairs Council (MPAC)…ohhh, did I mention they are another Muslim Brotherhood offshoot?
  5. He appoints Rashad Hussain as his deputy associate counsel to the president, the young man gave a speech prior to this at an MSA confab railing against America’s prosecution of the terrorist Sami Al-Arian, former leader of Palestinian Islamic Jihad (a more militant version of Hamas, another Brotherhood organization)

Well, if the President of the United States is so cushy with these guys, they must be pretty moderate right?  Let’s look at the Brotherhoods creed, unchanged since 1928:

Allah is our objective.

Ok, sounds pretty innocuous so far.

The Prophet is our leader.

Still pretty vanilla, go on.

The Koran is our law.

Uh-oh, gettin a little nervous now.

Jihad is our way.

Oh crap!  Hmm, maybe they mean the “new” definition of jihad, you know the one that has absolutely nothing at all to do with violence, let’s hope so.

Dying in the way of Allah is our highest hope.

Oh well, forget my hopes about what they meant by jihad.  Ohh, I almost forgot:

Allahu Akbar!

So Barrack Hussein Obama is a big fan of peeps who’s highest hope is dying in the way of Allah?  Hmm, sounds fishy.  But if it was big news, MSNBC would have covered it right?

But anyway, back to the here and now, specifically today, March 25th and why it is so special.  Remember that Tarek ibn Ziyad dude I was talking about at the beginning?  Well, another school has recently decided to associate its name with this spreader of the “Religion of Peace” through less than peaceful means.  It’s a school right here in my backyard in Virginia, one I have visited while a student at Fishburne Military School, and I am ashamed to say, the sister post-secondary school to my high-school.  What school Fleece?  Tell me!

Why, VMI of course, that’s the Virginia Military Institute for you acronym challenged.  The formerly prestigious military college claiming such honored alumni as George Marshall or Patton’s grandfather or the numerous Medal of Honor recipients, is host to a celebration entitled 711-2011: East Meets West, in the words of the event organizers, the celebration seeks to:

…celebrate the 1300th anniversary of Tariq ibn Ziyad’s crossing of the Straits of Gibraltar, setting into motion the fusion between two worlds.  The agenda will tell the vital story of the achievements when Muslims, Christians, and Jews thrived side by side in Western Europe, building a society that lit the Dark Ages. Experts will discuss how to transform education, promote tolerance, political reform, and advance human development so that we can emulate the spirit and triumphs of the early years.

I guess the conquest of the non-believers is a cause for rejoice.  I mean, according to the above nonsense, the “fusion between two worlds” somehow promotes tolerance.  I guess you could say that unless you were a Jew, as Big Peace elucidates in its article VMI Celebrates Muslim Invasion, Brutal 781-year Occupation of Spain:

but it is doubtful that Aslan [one of the panelists] and his co-panelists will be discussing the widespread persecution of Christians and Jews under Muslim rule that led to the establishment of an entirely new class of Roman Catholic martyrs, “the Cordoba martyrs“, or the 1066 massacre of Jews and crucifixion their leader Joseph ha-Nagid in “tolerant” Cordoba. The great Jewish scholar Maimonides and his family fled “tolerant” Cordoba after the Muslim conquest of the city in 1148, when the new occupiers gave Jews the option of converting to Islam, death or exile.

Jeez, March 25th blows.  Did anything good happen on this day?

Not to fret, I found one.  Danica Patrick was born.

Barrack Hussein Obama pulled off the biggest scam the world has ever known.

BTW, great to have you back. Keep the faith!

Well, if the ACLU is going to have a tantrum over the barest mention of God in our public school system, they should also feel free to have one over Islam taking over a federally funded public school.

Maybe I am just a dumb and ignorant, backwoods fellow from Oklahoma, but I can not understand how such blatant and obvious clues to a relationship between Barack Obama and radical Islam can be ignored. Why is it that they get a pass, heaven forbid someone accuse them of violence, yet the Tea Party is accused of causing the Arizona shooting, before anything was even known about the shooter? The more I think about it, the angrier I get.

It is rather anger inducing is it not?

Obama’s connections to multiple Islamist groups is unsettling to say the least. It would be the equivalent of a President during the Cold War being cushy with Communist groups while in office – the only problem is, during the Cold War we were willing to admit who our enemy is, nowadays, we are not.

Every once in a blue moon, the ACLU picks the right battle to fight. Excellent writing my friend, and great job sneaking a little Rule 5 into such a fact-dense post.

    Creeping Sharia, is it not?

      Ahh, thank you so much.

Creeping sharia it most definitely is. Everyone says we need to learn Spanish to get along in the future America, I think Arabic would be more fruitful. =(
