University of Iowa Professor Tells College Republicans to “F” Off

University of Iowa Professor Tells College Republicans to “F” Off.

There truly is no need to continually point out the hypocrisy of the progressive except that its fun as hell!  This latest case is brought to us from a University of Iowa professor of Anthropology and Gender, Women’s and Sexuality Studies.  Whew, with a title like that what could go wrong?  Apparently the prof, Ellen Lewin, fully believes in the new culture of civility that has overcome the left following the Gabrielle Giffords shooting and culminated in the kumbaya inducing union protests in Wisconsin (of course I kid).

First, its fair to point out what affront prompted her uncivil response.  The college republicans at the University of Iowa inadvertently sent her an email about their upcoming “Conservatives Coming Out Week”.  It listed daily activities, some overtly pointing fun at liberal ideas like the Animal Rights BBQ (I think that’s hilarious), and was a “blast email” as in it was sent to everyone at the campus.  It was also approved by the VP of student services, so this wasn’t a “sneak attack” or anything.

Lewin’s response was indicative of her standing in academicia, “F**K YOU REPUBLICANS”.  Of course, any conservative that has “come out of the closet” is intimately familiar with the emotionally triggered indignant outraged affronts to the status quo that the progressive has locked and loaded on the tip of their tongues at every waking moment, so the college republicans I am sure were not as offended as they acted in their email demanding an apology.

But they certainly had a call for an apology.  Lewin decided to include her typical email signature in this well thought out retort to the republicans, a signature that included her full title (the whole Gender, Women’s stu…you get the idea), the department you works in, and the University’s name.  So it would not be presumptuous to assume she was at least indirectly speaking for the University the college republicans (and their parents) were paying to attend.

Too bad for the poor professor, she was forced (I am guessing) into the progressive’s form of an apology, which never comes off as apologetic as one would expect:

“This is a time when political passions are inflamed, and when I received your unsolicited email, I had just finished reading some newspaper accounts of fresh outrages committed by Republicans in government.  I admit the language was inappropriate, and apologize for any affront to anyone’s delicate sensibilities.  I would really appreciate your not sending blanket emails to everyone on campus, especially in these difficult times.”

Ahh, the ambiguous newspaper account of outrages by other evil Republicans.  You see, her passions were already inflamed, she was awash in righteous indignation before receiving the email that prompted her 3 word tirade.  The key to apologizing without actually apologizing is to do what she does, apologize that you offended, but never apologize that you did it, even better if you can make the offended look like whiny wankers who have “delicate sensibilities”.  Her last line is a foreshadowing of the next step of progressive civility, from perpetrator to victim.

Lewin was not done yet, she apparently felt the need to clarify her position in the next email sent 15 minutes later:

I should note that several things in the original message were extremely offensive, nearly rising to the level of obscenity.  Despite the Republicans’ general disdain for LGBT rights you called your upcoming event “conservative coming out day,” appropriating the language of the LGBT right movement.   Your reference to the Wisconsin protests suggested that they were frivolous attempts to avoid work.  And the “Animal Rights BBQ” is extremely insensitive to those who consider animal rights an important cause.  Then, in the email that Ms. Ginty sent complaining about my language, she referred to me as Ellen, not Professor Lewin, which is the correct way for a student to address a faculty member, or indeed, for anyone to refer to an adult with whom they are not acquainted.  I do apologize for my intemperate language, but the message you all sent out was extremely disturbing and offensive.

Does anyone question her suitability to be a professor of Gender, oh hell I ain’t gonna write that nonsense out again?  The key to that realm of academic endeavor is the total embracing of the victim mentality, and she shows her masterful grasp of the subject in this email.  The laundry list of “offenses” and “disturbing” behavior make her “intemperate language” almost laughable.  She was rightly in her place to tell off these sub-human republicans for their affront to society.  How dare they use “coming out”?!?  That is the language of the proud and honorable LGBT (nothing says proud like being referred to by an acronym).  She goes off whole hog (in a a totally humane and vegan way) against the republicans who dared to challenge the peace and harmony that is a progressive college campus.

Of course, this truly is much ado about nothing, but that’s sort of the point.  As one lefty commenter asserts, it’s a tempest in a teapot.  Of course it is you muldoon!  That’s the freaking point.  Do you think a group who could come up with the brilliant irony of an Animal Rights BBQ would not jump at the chance to lay bare the hypocrisy of the civil and tolerant left?  Were the republicans offended?  Hell no!  But who gives a crap, Ellen Lewin is a nasty little weasel and they saw a way to give her some much-needed comeuppance, I like it.  Good on ya college republicans, keep up the good work.

Geez. Talk about being overly sensitive. The woman has absolutely no sense of humor. Sad.

She is obviously emotionally unstable, good thing she isn’t doing anything important like teaching kids.

First sentence: I hope the fun of it keeps you in the game … because your intitial premise that it’s unnecessary is dead wrong. We have an election coming up, and as always, the result hinges on the clueless Independents most susceptible to Barry’s pandering.

Okay, perhaps I was being overly flippant, my point was that, to the conservative, lefty hypocrisy is nothing new, but you are correct about the independents. Crow barbecued and eaten, tasty!

Save an Independent today. Slap ’em upside the head with the truth!

Simply amazing, and very much in keeping with your recent posts about the irony of the leftist/progressive mentality. Their sensibilities are so easily wounded by ANY trivial affront to their (take your pick) lifestyle, ideology, race, gender, etc., etc., ad nauseum. But, they have a First Amendment RIGHT to say or do anything that they feel justifies or promotes their cause de jour. As you said; we are nothing but sub-human mouth-breathers that are doing nothing but taking up space on their pristine planet. Just wish there was somewhere else to go and let them have it. How long do you think they would continue their immature antics if THEY had to foot the bill and give THEIR money to someone else who hasn’t turned a hand to contribute in a positive way?

For sure. In my opinion, they are the mouth breathers. Damn, a neanderthal is less knee-jerk than a modern progressive.

I received this yesterday. I still have not responded. What I’d really like to do is slap him upside the head. Remember the old “Ma Bell” commercial from years ago;reach out and touch someone. That’s what I wanted to do.

PLEASE don’t send me any further negative presidential emails.

I don’t care if he’s Republican, Democrat, black, blue, brown or purple. He’s the leader of the free world and our Commander in Chief.

If you’ve served in the Military that should be a given. If not, shame on you.

“Ask not what your country can do for you – ask what you can do for your country”

Why he even brought up that old supposedly quote from jfk is really funny since jfk didn’t even write it. And it was 50 years ago.

    • April 21, 2011 4:47 pm

Umm, I have no clue what the hell you are talking about. I don’t email my readers, so you must be talking about someone else (unless it was a subscription to my blog). Either way, this has nothing to do with the president, so….

They fall apart do easily because of their flawed ideology. They cannot back up their position with facts so the only thing they have left is name calling. She is a weak minded buffoon. Great post Colin.

She is definitely a buffoon, and thanks my friend. =)

This is just too funny; she apologizes to conservatives on campus by blaming the Republicans in the Congress. Typical!

Yeah, I would hate to be her student, if she is so emotionally unstable a newspaper article makes her snap like that. “Professor, can you repeat what you just said?”….”F**k you deaf bastard!”

Here’s an interview with University of Iowa Professors Timothy Hagle and Kembrew McLeod, Matt Sowada, the conservative co-host of the political talk radio show American Reason on KRUI, and Rod Sullivan from the Johnson County Board of Supervisors about Professor Ellen Lewin’s “F— You, Republicans!” email response to the University of Iowa College Republicans campus-wide invite for people to participate in “Conservative Coming Out Week.”
