The godsend that was 9/11

June 20, 2011

Okay, before you tear my head off, please read more than the headline to this post.  I know its hard to imagine the unwarranted murder of 3000 Americans could ever be considered a godsend, but lets make some observations to see if I might be on to something.

I want everyone to think back to their lives before 9.11.2001.  Give it a shot.  And I don’t mean just 9/10.  I mean your general view of the world the weeks, months and years prior to that horrific attack.  What did you worry about?  What was your biggest concern?  Let me guide your thinking a bit – was it Sharia law?  Was it a stealth jihad?  Was it the fear of creeping Sharia into our legal systems?  For myself, I can assuredly answer no.

And I would say it is the same for most of you.  When the World Trade Centers were first bombed in 1993, what was your reaction?  Did you immediately conclude Islamist terrorists were seeking to destroy our way of life?  I didn’t, I just assumed, like every other domestic terror act in America, that some crazy dudes went off the reservation.  In no way did I associate it with a grander scheme of Islam, much like I never associated the Munich assassinations of Israeli Olympiads, the Lockerbie bombing, the Iran Hostage crisis, the Lebanon bombings etc. as anything more than crazy ass Arabs showing their hate for Jews.

What was your reaction to the attack on the USS Cole?  Did you rightly conclude it was Yemeni Islamists attacking the great Satan?  Or did you more likely conclude, as I did, that it was crazy ass dudes just basically doing what crazy ass dudes do – attacking a major target to get their names in the papers.

After any of these acts, did you seek out a Koran and try to figure out the ideology behind the people perpetrating the attacks?  Did you even know who Osama Bin Laden was?  Did you ever hear of the Muslim Brotherhood?  Or Sharia Law?  I can speak from my own experience and again say unequivocably no.

9/11 laid bare a fact many of us in America were happily ignorant to – that there is a concerned effort by Islamist groups within and without this country to change our way of life from a Republic to an Islamic state under Sharia law, and they have been doing it for a long long time.  Since the 1950’s.

Do you think the Muslim Brotherhood rejoiced at the 9/11 attack?  Well, probably they did.  A little cheer for a strike against the great satan.  Internal joy at the deaths of 3000 infidels.  But in the grand scheme of things, they were very upset.  Not because they care about loss of life or any such Western nonsense, its because their stealthily crafted plans were laid bare in one fell swoop.  All it took was 19 peeps with less vision than them to open up pandora’s box.  And opened it was.

Remember the days after 9/11?  Remember all the talk about, “We need to understand Islam?”  They usually came from some bleeding heart apologist for anyone who attacks America, but in a sense, they were doing America more good than they could ever imagine.  The ONE thing the Muslim Brotherhood and their ilk DO NOT want us to do is understand Islam.

Before 9/11, I toed the line on Islam.  I thought it was a tolerant, peaceful religion.  I drank the kool-aid and never even tried to research the facts.  The Muslim Brotherhood was pleased by my ignorance.  Following 9/11, they were less than pleased by my curiosity.  Because as one thing leads to another in one’s quest for more information, all signs begin to point towards that organization.

We have a killer in our house, and 9/11 turned a torch on him.

Imagine again a world without 9/11.  Would you even care if the Ground Zero mosque was being built?  Would you even be cognizant of, or would the press report on, creeping Sharia?  Understand, in a world without 9/11, these things would still be happening, they were happening before, the difference is we would not be alerted to them.  And if we didn’t know or care about such things, they would happen oh so much easier.

In my opinion, 9/11 had to at least set the timeline for the Muslim Brotherhood’s overall goal back at least a decade, perhaps more.  The only problem is, they aren’t stopping and Islamist groups have much more long term focus than most any American.

But we can not take the horrific gift of 9/11 and stick it on the top shelf of our hallway closet.  We must accept it for what it was, a wake-up call to the evil groups in our country seeking to destroy it.  We must never forget the loss of 3000 Americans at the hands of 19 cowards who dreamed of a paradise but I hope were rewarded perdition.  Our fellow’s deaths were a sad sacrifice that Islam has only begun to demand of the West and its freedoms.  If we let Islam continue, then their deaths were for naught.  I will not let it be so.

I agree with you 100%, Fleece. Even as cynical & suspicious a codger as I am, a legacy I’m sure of those long ago days in the Southeast Asia Surfing Association, I was a babe in the woods as to the world conquest aims of the Muslims. Personally, I think 9/11 was the biggest mistake they could have made because, contrary to leftist propaganda, Americans WILL fight, and they will fight you to the last bloody knife if they have to. Always have & always will. But that’s Americans, not the hoards of illegals & the many naturalized foreigners that are Americans in name only (The AINOs). We’ve got a serious problem with 5th columnists in this country, and it’s going to have to be addressed.

I wish I could have said as well as you did, Bob. Colin is absolutely right. We were all blissful in our ignorance.

In the minds of the touchy feely non-violent (for right now) Islamists, 9/11 was most assuredly a screw-up. They would have loved to stay under the radar like they have been for the last 6 decades.

Americans In Name Only – AINO – what a great acronym. We need to use this on ALL of the individuals and groups who think the Constitution is an outdated document and needs to be changed. I read an article today about an idea to change the Constitution to a Twitter “type” document that we can vote on as we all see fit. Think about that for a minute and let it sink in. Someone is actually proposing that we allow the “Law of the Land” to be changed at the whim of a social media website that has already given us a depraved congressman and who knows what else. The lack of respect for our Constitution is a DIRECT result of the failure of society to demand that acedemia teach the history of our struggle for freedom and the basis for our form of government. We have got to wake up and start making everyone accountable. Point out the AINOs and stick a finger in their face and say “SHAME on you!”

        AINO is pretty good no?

As far as a Twitter Constitution, I can make jokes because the concept is so ludicrous its laughable. At least with a Twitter Constitution, we won’t ever have to worry about 3000 page Health Care bills.

I also agree with you 100%–9/11 certainly woke me up to the dangers that we as a nation faced, before 9/11 I thought of suicide bombers as the problem of other countries in the Middle East and not the problem of America. I did not understand the threat that we face but now I do and I will never forget it.

Yeah, I am not sure what my big concerns were prior to 9/11, but for sure it wasn’t Islamism.

If you haven’t read this on American Thinker, The Muslim Brotherhood and Weiner, it is definietley worth your time. They have worked their way into the highest echelons of our government, and are aides to the movers and shakers in our society. I don’t know if we have a chance of taking our country back.

Good link, but in no ways surprising. Universally, almost every administration (even Reagan)in the last 30 years has bought into the supposed moderatism of the Muslim Brotherhood, as if them acting like they are reformers changes their overall goal in any way. The scary thing is the two-way affair we have with this organization and its many offshoots – one one hand, they can be indicted and put on lists by the FBI, on the other the same FBI puts them front and center in outreach programs to American Muslims – its all very surreal and damn frustrating.

Colin, I had never really thought of that aspect of 9-11. You are quite correct. I was a wake up call, and there are quite a few “americans” that want us to go right back to sleep. It isn’t happening.

    • June 21, 2011 7:21 am

Yeah, don’t worry about Islam, worry about where Weiner is hiding the virtual salami.

They mocked the conservatives when the McCarthy hearings took place, and now it comes out that most of it was true. The same as now. Conservatives are once again painted as nut cases to diminish the truth. Thanks for the trip down memory lane. Thinking back, my moment of illumination came when it came out that Bill CLinton was trying to sell out our ports to Dubai. It takes apparently “Critical Mass” to wake up. We can only hope that Americans come to their senses in time and reach the tipping point.

Weren’t the Dubai Ports deal under Bush? Regardless, you are right, we were awoken, but many of us have followed Morpheus back to the blissful ignorance he so offers. Hopefully, enough of us will drink enough coffee to stay on the bill and put a stop to this madness.
