Fleece’s Faves – US Women’s National Soccer Team

July 10, 2011

Regardless of whether you like soccer or no, today’s win by the US Women’s National Soccer Team was unbelievable to say the least.  Consider first, we played more than half the game with a player down, 11 for Brazil, only 10 for us.  Secondly, the Brazilian’s were playing some of the shadiest time-wasting tactics I have ever seen, and they should be ashamed for such actions.  Lastly, and most important, one of the most incredible crosses I have ever seen off the foot of Megan Rapinoe found the head of Amy Wambach and was drilled into goal to tie the game with less than 1:30 left in overtime.  Simply incredible!

The Penalty Kick shootout was almost a given for the US.  We have the best goalie in the world, Hope Solo, and the momentum from that goal less than two minutes ago almost guaranteed the victory.  What an amazing game.

Here are some pics of our ladies kickin ass on the pitch, enjoy!

Thanks for the link. Just want to mention, what is it with you guys and your Rule 5 girls, if that’s what patriotism is I must be a freakin’ traitor. Now what am I going to have for dinner since you’ve successfully ruined my trip to McDonalds?

Sorry to ruin your dinner. =(

No excuse for the Rule 5, I don’t normally post them, but sometimes a beautiful woman in a Stars and Stripes bikini is just plain special. =)

Down here we call it futbal instead of soccer. I love it. I wish the World Cup were held every year. Go USA!! Thanks for the link, Colin.

    • July 10, 2011 5:18 pm

I’d call it futbol, but I feel like a moron saying it in Spanish, so I call it good ole American soccer. Plus, that’s what the US National Team calls its, so trying to stay consistent. =)
